In response to media reports of a potential Chinese military exercise, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated that people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, as well as the international community, wish for peace and stability across the Strait. Although the ROC military adheres to the principles of not escalating tensions and not inciting conflict, it is fully prepared to maintain peace through strength in the face of adversity.
The MND stated that any intention to heighten tensions across the Taiwan Strait would pose a substantial threat to regional security, peace, and stability. Such actions neither reflect the wishes of people on either side of the Taiwan Strait or the international community and are unbefitting to a responsible and modern nation.
The MND has highlighted that the ROC military continues to closely monitor activities in the surrounding waters and airspace through joint ISR operations. The MND has deployed forces accordingly and remains confident and resolute in its abilities to defend the nation.
