    In response to China’s Maritime Safety Administration declaring the waters near Niushan Island, Pingtan County, as restricted for live-fire drills, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) claimed that such drills are routine in the PLA’s annual exercises. The MND is using joint ISR systems to closely monitor the PLA drills, analyzing both military activities and their intentions. The MND has not ruled out the possibility that the PLA may intend to use this live-fire drill to further intimidate Taiwan given the current Taiwan Strait circumstances. The ROC military will remain cautious of the PLA, closely monitor the situation, and respond accordingly.
