MND Issues Statement on Property Declaration Leak (October 21, 2024)
MND News Report
Date: 11:05, October 21, 2024
On October 21, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) responded to media reports of a leak in military personnel property declarations. The Ethics Office of the MND sent the asset reporting list to the responsible units (not including each branch of the armed forces) on October 15, 2024, in accordance with the Implementation Rules on Property Declaration for Armed Forces Personnel for regular property declarations. However, the MND discovered procedural oversights since the document contained confidential personnel information.
The MND noted that the leaked information included personnel’s service unit, title, name and reporting year, but did not include their savings information, real-estate holdings, or investments. The MND immediately implemented risk control measures by requesting all recipients to return the document through the official document system. The MND will review the incident and strengthen procedures for document operations and management to prevent future incidents.
