    In addressing the media’s report on changes to general and flag officer (GFO) promotions, the Ministry of National Defense has responded with the following:

1. The regular promotion ceremony for GFOs was originally held every 6 months. Since May 2022, in accordance with the Enforcement Rules of the Act of Commission for Officers and Noncommissioned Officers of the Armed Forces, promotion ceremonies have been held monthly, with promoted personnel being promoted by their direct superior officer.
2. In an effort to commend the important cadre of the ROC military, starting from September 2024, the President will now preside over GFO promotion ceremonies. Regarding media reports of the President allegedly berating and domineering GFOs, such news is evidently false and exaggerated. The MND reminds the public to fulfill their social responsibilities by rejecting false information, lest it lower the morale of the ROC military.
