    In response to the controversy surrounding the electricity bill of the Defense Minister’s official residence, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated on September 11 that Defense Minister Wellington Koo had not yet lived in the official residence since his appointment. In addition, the MND managed seven locations with nineteen official residences from 2022 to 2023, including Meizhuang, Zhishan, Linzikou, Songyuan, Xinyi, Renai, and the National Defense Medical Center; the monthly utility cost was approximately NT$7,592 and was viewed as reasonable. Therefore, accusations that the Defense Minister’s electricity bill exceeded NT$1 million are untrue.
